I looked up at him, my heart racing as I realized what he was trying to tell me. He appreciated my attempt, but he didn't want me to worry myself so much. The thought of him accepting his fate, of him being trapped in this form forever, filled me with a deep, aching sadness.

"I won't leave you like this," I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion. "I won't rest until we've figured this out, until we've broken this curse.
